The Tick of Time …
You’ve probably already noticed that it’s getting darker a little bit later but did you know that tomorrow is the vernal, or spring, equinox? This is when the earth tilts in such a way that we get equal amounts of day and night in a 24 hour period – we experience this again in September during what’s called the autumn equinox. Both occur just a few weeks ahead of daylight saving time when our clocks are adjusted either forward or back an hour.
The vernal equinox is also acknowledged by certain faiths as the beginning of a period of new life. It’s certainly true that this is the time of year when animals are most likely to give birth and green spaces start becoming carpeted in flowers.
But tomorrow also marks the beginning of the astrological sign of Aries, which runs until 19 April. To celebrate all those born under the sign of Aries, Alchemy have released a new necklace based on the ancient Egyptian sun god Amon-Ra Pendant [P.656]. This two-tone ram’s head is decorated with Swarovski crystals and a delicate dropper bead, making it an attractive neck ornament that’s suitable for both decadent daywear and evening fashion.
