Hammer Offer Chilling Sounds for the Summer
Having risen from the grave in grand style last year with their box-office hit The Woman in Black, Britain’s legendary Gothic studio Hammer Films have been spreading their bat-wings into other media. In early 2011, they launched their own range of spooky genre novels, at the start of this year the company debuted the first of their Hammer Theatre of Horror productions – a stage adaptation of the ghost story The Turn of the Screw – while plans are afoot to open a themed attraction in London in the near future, featuring favourite Hammer characters such as Frankenstein and Dracula.
The studio’s latest endeavour is a foray into the world of audio drama in partnership with specialists Bafflegab Productions. Penned by a roster of the best of the UK’s horror writing talent, and brought to life by a cast of experienced actors, the Hammer Chillers consist of six spine-tingling radio plays, released on a weekly basis, beginning June 7th of this year. You can either subscribe, buy individual downloads, or purchase the entire series as a deluxe CD digipack once they’ve all been broadcast.
