Bloodstock !!!
One more sleep until Bloodstock Open Air – the UK’s largest independent metal festival, which takes place in Walton on Trent in Derbyshire. The event runs until 11 August and features four stages with King Diamond, Lamb of God and Slayer all headlining the Ronnie James Dio main stage.
Bloodstock started off life as an indoor metal fest in 2001 with Saxon headlining before running to the fields in 2005 and expanding to the format we know and love today. This year, for the third time running, organisers will be helping to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Some of the fundraising ideas include a t-shirt amnesty where unwanted rock and metal tops can go to a new home in exchange for a small donation. There will also be a raffle with some fantastic prizes including a Yamaha bass signed by Motörhead’s Lemmy.
