Thor – The Dark World
The second Thor film will be out at cinemas from tomorrow, October 30th and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Christopher Eccleston. Although it’s part of the Marvel Comics franchise, the the crown prince of Asgard is based on the Norse god of the same name. Thor: The Dark World sees the hero trying to restore order after a mysterious race threatens to plunge the universe back into darkness. It continues the story from last year’s Marvel superhero movie The Avengers, which also featured Iron Man and the Hulk.
It was filmed around Iceland and England with the famous Stonehenge historical monument appearing in several scenes. In mythology, Thor is probably best known for his lightening hammer and for this film, the props department made about 30 different versions of it, which were all different weights for various scenes.
If you’re looking forward to the flick, why not bring out your inner Viking with Alchemy’s metal wear. There’s the subtle Bindrune Hammer pendent [P338] that’s carefully inscribed with powerful runes to command energy, courage, potency and conquest and Thor’s Runehammer ring [R171] for blood and thunder. For a more noticeable piece, try the complementary Thunder Hammer [B96] belt buckle which is decorated with a small version of the Mjolnir, the Norse god’s mighty weapon of destruction.
