Sunset at Montmajour
A long-lost painting by Vincent Van Gogh has recently gone on display in Amsterdam. Sunset at Montmajour is a large oil landscape that was created by the post-impressionist artist in 1888 but has spent the last hundred years laying abandoned in a Norwegian attic.
Best known for his boldly-coloured still life and landscapes, Van Gogh became one of the most influential artists of the 19th century yet his work was only known to a handful of people during his lifetime. He suffered from mental illness throughout much of his career and died from a gunshot wound when he was just 37. This new painting is thought to have been created around the same time as the world famous Sunflowers series.
Alchemy has created its very own gothic sunflower that comes in two strikingly elegant forms. The Black Dahlia [HC.7] hair clip is based around an individually-made fabric flower and finished off with one of our trademark pewter skulls. The matching choker [P.674] is affixed to a length of black lace and accentuated with delicate glass and pewter beads. Whichever you choose to complement your outfit, you’re be sure to turn heads.
